Indonesia’s climate is demanding on doors and windows: strong sun, humid air, then heavy rain — often within a single day. The material you pick has to cope with all three.
The tropical-climate challenge
Wood tends to swell and rot when it stays damp, and termites can eat it. Aluminium does not rot, but it conducts heat very quickly and salty air weakens its corrosion protection. Wood needs constant upkeep (repainting and finishing), aluminium needs its coating and joints watched.
What makes UPVC last
- Weather resistant — does not rust or rot in heat, humidity and rain. Like any plastic it expands slightly with temperature, so a good frame is steel-reinforced and installed with a gap.
- Low maintenance — no repainting, no rust, easy to clean.
- Sound and heat insulation — EPDM gaskets on frame and sash make rooms calmer and more comfortable.
- Strong — profile chambers are reinforced with galvanised steel and corners are fusion-welded.
What to check before choosing
Make sure the profile has galvanised steel reinforcement, welded (not screwed) corners and tight gaskets. Ask for a profile cross-section sample and have measurements taken on site.
